This action-packed sci-fi anime reminiscent of a grittier Digimon Adventures is a gripping story despite sometimes being simplistic and predictable. The fast pace and straightforward dialogue make My Daemon a little cheesy, but Kento's sincerity, Anna's loyalty, and the hope for the two to succeed make it a show worth investing in. Kento's persistent goodness is an encouraging contrast to the intense violence and thoughtless cruelty. As the stakes ramp up and Kento learns about just how complex the world is, the themes of justice and non-violence become even more important.
