SAN FRANCISCO, June 27, 2023— At a White House event today, President Biden declared that high-speed internet is no longer a luxury but an "absolute necessity" as he outlined a $42 billion plan to give every American household and business access to high-speed internet by 2030. James P. Steyer, Founder and CEO of Common Sense Media, issued the following statement after the announcement.

"At Common Sense Media, we understand how critical it is for every family to have access to the internet. Our research has shown that when communities can invest in high-speed broadband networks families gain access to expanded educational opportunities, health services, and jobs," Steyer said. "The Biden Administration's and Congress' $42 billion investment to build high-speed broadband networks will help to ensure every family and business across the country can meaningfully participate in today's digital economy."
