A little creepy but still very Christie
I have an IMMENSE soft spot for Branagh and Agatha Christie adaptations. I loved Murder on the Orient Express and enjoyed Death on the Nile immensely. This outing of Poirot is tonally different from the others. It is a bit creepier and has the performers ratchet up the performances a bit, but I was still enthralled, not sure who had dunit and was well invested in the story, tone and cinematography. I hope they continue making them because I will continue to show up to be misled and taken on a Christie ride.

Seeing it in 70mm IMAX is an engrossing cinematic experience
Yes I saw this in 70mm IMAX in a sold out theater in Tempe. Was it worth it? Well yeah! It felt like I was in the film. Murphy's head was so big on the screen that it defied reason. The film felt a little long in some spots, but the last half seems to go at a quick clip. It is impressive that it is three hours and there is a lot of talking and I was glued to the events as they unfolded. Nolan can definitely tell a riveting courtroom drama with a nuclear explosion thrown in for good measure. The film feels like cinema and although Pugh is utilized in some creative ways that feel a bit forced I still was engaged with all of my senses watching this film.

Enjoyable with some awkwardness
I did not expect to enjoy this as much as as I did. Are there awkwardness in some indigenous portrayals? Yes. Does the film lack some basic historicity? Yes. Is it still worth watching and laughing through...I think yes. Branagh and Kline are delightful in their portrayals and it is aa breath of fresh air to watch a film that is about friendship and power and kindness and community. The film is a lovely homage to the Crosby/Hope Road to...films and the banter between Branagh and Kline is brisk and keeps the film quippy and watchable. Perez and Olmos are also strong in their interpretations. The biggest disappointment is that you never find out more about Chel's character and that feels like an unfortunate blindspot. Well voiced, well animated and well executed albeit with disdainful conversation around "sacrifice." Just stop already.

Everything you want from a summer spy thriller action blockbuster
This film was everything you want in a summer spy thriller action film. There are chase scenes and stunts that take your breath away. There are double crosses and mask reveals that are interesting and fun. There are new characters that are intriguing and gritty. There is the old team that you want to spend time with. And there is Tom Cruise holding it all together as only he can. The film is fun, the pacing makes the 2 hours and 45 minutes fly by and you are invested in the characters onscreen. A delightful summer blockbuster film that goes down easy when watched on the big screen.

Keaton, Calle, Verdú and Jackson shine!
Well here it is...first off, it is shameful that this main actor continues to get this type of work. it starts off shaky. The whole baby intro scene was not a great way to start, the CGI...geez. The middle parts are alright. It does what most superhero films tend to do. It's irreverent and breezy...even about time travel. Keaton and Calle save the film and make the film very watchable. At the end it feels a bit rushed and slow at the same time, but there is a lot of noise and it is nice to see it come to a conclusion. Another bright spot is of course Verdú and Jackson (more Jackson please). Curious to see where this will lead.

A poignant portrayal of a political prisoner
A film that gets to the heart of why Putin is a dictator that rules with impunity and an iron fist. Navalny's story is harrowing and his desire to serve his country is infectious in this documentary. How does one combat tyranny? Navalny has a core group of supporters/family around him that he should warrant the state attempt to murder him on a flight feels like a Le Carré novel but so much worse. That Navalny has chosen to return to Russia makes his story all that much more harrowing along with the devastating news of what happened to those that inadvertently revealed the plot to murder Navalny. The reveal offers a taut portrayal that leaves the viewer on the edge and offers little hope for a Russia that is being strangled by the head of state.

A great family superhero film!
Saw this film on the Friday it was released with my husband and 7 year old kid. It was loved by all. López steals every scene he is in. Maridueña does an excellent job as Blue Beetle and Barraza is believable as the grandmother with a storied past. The film hits all the right tones with Soto offering a palette that most Latinx sensitive viewers can relate to and culturally understand. The chapulín colorado? Brilliant move. A far and away underutilized superhero. Very glad this got a cinema release so my kid could see himself onscreen.

Sizzling, sweet, and stuffed with a lot of plot
Saw it at the Drive-In where there were a lot of single digit aged kids and a lot of anticipation for this new Pixar film. The film works...it works enough...it works in ways that are specific in its animation prowess and it shows off how much it cost in the world that it creates. The character development is heavy on Ember and her turmoil pulsates throughout the film. The film tackles a lot and in its attempts to create a universal story it sometimes can come off as cute and quirky. Sohn is sincere in his direction and the film feels stuffed with all the things you want to say before they take away the mic. The best moment in watching the film is when a bunch of viewers who were of single digit age started yelling at the screen...KISS!KISS!KISS! The film clearly connected and there was buy in all around.

Continues the tone of Bumblee (2018)
Did not expect much and was pleasantly surprised at the ease in which it was to watch this film. Watched it at the drive-in and my child was riveted. He is also a BIG Bumblebee (2018) fan and this film did not disappoint him. The vibe of the film is more aligned with the Bumblebee film than with the original series of Transformers Michael Bay films. Although Bay produced this film it is clearly Caple Jr.'s film and his deftness of handling the bonkers story and the character development made for a fun and breezy time with some low stakes (future of the human race...yada yada) and portrays parts of the world that we do not get to see enough on screen. Ramos and Fishback hold the film down well and it is a joy to see what happens to their characters.

A beautiful and tragic murder mystery
Aaaaaaand here we go Park chan-wook! From the beginning you are dropped into a mystery that unravels in a spectral fashion, with details and cinematography that lends itself to the overall tone of the film. It is like watching a master of style navigate both style AND substance. This film demands that you be on the edge of your seat. I am a fan of Park chan-wook's work and even understanding his style I am still surprised and enraptured by the world building he creates and am looking forward to the next one!
